Houston Ranks Number 1 in U.S. for Residential Construction Permits

A recent headline in the Houston Business Journal touted the Houston area having the most construction permits in the nation. The story cited a recent story by Apartment Guide.

The Houston area reported 36,073 permits as of July 2019. Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington came in at No. 2, with 34,523 residential building permits issued through the same time period. Texas also claimed the number 6 spot with the Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown area issuing 17,848 permits.

Houston issued nearly 20 times the 1,843 permits issued in the average metro area.
